I wanna cut my Shih Tzu's hair, how long does it take to grow back?

So,I adopted a Shih Tzu girl yesterday. She was very mistreated by her previous owner!
Her entire back hair is dreaded.(severe matting)

it has grown about a centimeter so i want to snip all the matting off.

My question is how long will it take for her hair to grow about 2 inches?

sever matting you could go to a groomer or a vet and pay them a couple hundred dollars to have them remove the matting and bath them, or you could purchase yourself a pet grooming set for less than a hundred dollars or close to and give them a trimming yourself. For instance I gave a dog a grooming with severe matting a couple weeks(2) ago and his hair has grown back to 3/4 inch so far.

I have a black female shih tzu that I gave her a puppy cut (cutting the hair down to a centimeter of hair) because she gets hot very quickly in the warm weather. I had cut hair a week ago and it has come back a half an inch.

So to answer your question it will take it depends on really how healthy she is and fed. But not over fed, so it might take more or less than a month for her hair to grow back to 2 inches.

It will take her a few months to grow out, but if she is severely matted, you will probably want to take her to the groomer for a shave down and a good bath.

You should take it to a groomer and have her groomed /ears checked and cleaned ,
This should be done every 6 months or so.

If you say Severe matting. I suggest you take her to the vet or to the groomers. Matting can be a night mere for both the owner, and painful for the dog. Vets and groomers are the best people to do the job.

Its different if its little clumps of matted fur.
To de-matt, you need a steel comb, a slicker brush (a brush with fine steel needle-like pins), and a matt splitter or sharp scissors. There a number of sprays and detangling aids you can purchase to help.
Never bathe a matted dog – once the matts are wet they are near impossible to untangle. Brush out as much as possible before bathing the dog.
Get the dog to lie down. It is much easier to work on each section according how the dog wants to lie. If you spend your whole time fighting the dog to stay still it becomes very exhausting. If you can control the dogs head, you have control of the dog, and that is imperative. Be sure not to pull the dog's fur too hard. Hold the tangle tightly between the skin and the knot before combing it out to prevent discomfort.
