Can dogs be seized from someone if they over breed them?

Friday, June 29th, 2012

There is this one house near me that seems to have puppies available every four-six months. The place looks trashy on the outside.

My younger brother actually got a dog from these people two years ago. A shih-tzu that has now became my mothers. The dog has some health issues. But what bothers me most is these people were selling the puppies for $200+ - my brother got the pup for $80 but…she was too small, I think. She could hardly walk, she had no teeth. To make it worse they told him to ‘bring the dog back when it was six months old if they wanted to breed her’. The dog they got goes into heat, a lot, my parents are going to get her spayed soon but I think it’s genetic since after the litter she came from was born- about six months later they had more puppies available.

Anyway, they have puppies for sale now. Would them over breeding dogs be a good reason for the dogs to be seized or is it kind of ‘it doesn’t matter’/doesn’t contribute to any reason for the dogs to be taken from them?

Yes, they can be seized . They are running a puppy mill and in many states that is illegal. Usually the poor dogs live in deplorable conditions and as you noticed, the pups and parents are not healthy. My male pug is a rescue from a puppy mill where they bred his poor mother to death. Please report these folks to Animal Services, the SPCA , Animal Control, or whoever takes care of such matters in your area and save these poor dogs! They will at least do an investigation. Thanks you for caring for the poor dogs who have no control over their situation!

Shih Tzu’s ears producing excess oil, while other skin appears dry?

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

I have a rescued Shih Tzu, who I’ve had since the beginning of October. I’m grooming him myself, and have a few questions…

His ears seem to produce excess oil. A week after a bath, if you look below the line of his ears you can see that the fur there (on the side of his skull) is oily. His ears aren’t gunky or built up, no orange or brown residue, and they also don’t bother him. Is there a way to keep his ears cleaner, or should I be concerned by this?

Also, he gets an oatmeal bath every ten days or so, as per vet’s orders to combat a skin infection that he came to me with… it’s finally almost gone. However, areas on his stomach and around his genitals are peeling, as though they are dry, but they aren’t irritated otherwise (no redness or itchiness). Is there a way to keep these areas from becoming over dry, even as he has to have so many baths? Based on his infection progress, I estimate that he’ll be done with such frequent baths in about another 4 weeks.

Do you dry his ears out i always put cotton balls in my dogs ears when I give them a bath so they do not get the water in the ear which can cause an ear infection. I suggest a ear rinse I have one by this brand called Kinetic it helps fight ear infections and soothe the ear. You can purchase it at pet-co. The hair should be plucked too.

My Crazy Rescue Pomeranian & Shih Tzu?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

I just rescued a little pomeranian around 3 days ago. I have two other dogs. She is a MAJOR jumper she will jump out of no where and it soo crazy! She will see another one of my dogs coming out of another room and just start jumping up and down like really high to probably like 3 foot. Maybe I can take a video of it and post it on here. When I come home from going somewhere she acts as if she thought I would never come back, I mean my other two dogs get exited but not that excited. She is very bouncy and if my border collie is laying down she will keep jumping over her.

My rescue Shih-Tzu. She is also a little crazy lol. She LOVES to drag her back legs she drags them like a handicap dog does but usually will only do it on carpet. But boy she can run fast like that with her little front feet kicking. I know shes ok she walks normal but when she gets exited she does this and I think its really cute and funny.

Am I attracting silly dogs? Why are my two rescue dogs behaving this way my dog I got from a breeder doesn’t do anything at all weird. I do not think I should take them to the vet for this as they are just being silly. But does anyone know why they would do things like this. I promise I am not a troll I just would like to share/ask about my silly dogs. Maybe I can catch them in the act with the video recorder. Thank You

There is nothing wrong with your dogs.

Your dogs are just being "silly" "playful" dogs!

Congrats for rescuing!

Anyone yorkie puppy for sale?

Saturday, June 23rd, 2012

Hi, I live in Wv and I’m looking for a Yorkie pup. I can go all places in Wv or meet you somewhere in Va. I need her to be female and a puppy. I can pay up to $150 that’s the problem no one sells them cheap. Also I have two other pups. A shorkie, and shih-tzu. Would one be left out? I need to know to decide on getting another. Please tell me if you no any one or you or can answer my question.

Honestly, you probably won’t find a yorkie for $150. My grandma bought a "cheap" one for $600. You can look on http://www.puppyfind.com/ . You look up the breed and then type in your state. I wouldn’t get another if I were you, 2 dogs is enough for me.

Where can I get a cheap or free Shih Tzu puppy in Orange County California or close by?

Friday, June 22nd, 2012

I really want a Shih Tzu puppy.
I’ve looked and find some but for $400 and more. (i don’t want to spend that much to buy a dog)
Please Help
In Orange County California ar 30 mins away max.
Thanks

$400 is cheap for a pure bred dog. You must have been looking at back yard breeders.

No one is going to give you a free or cheap pure bred dog. Your best bet would be to check out the shelters in your area or contact Shih Tzu breed rescue. I very much doubt you’ll get a puppy, it will be an older dog in rescue and you’ll need to pay an adoption fee.

What is the best conditioner for my shih tzu puppy?

Thursday, June 21st, 2012

I have a 3 month old shih tzu puppy and her coat gets really nappy after her showers. I dont want anything expensive either.

Shih Tzu’s don’t have fur, they have hair. They can be really cute.

Are Shih Tzu puppies allowed on planes?

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012

I’m moving to Canada in a few months from the Philippines, but I’m not sure if my Shih Tzu can come along.

Each airline has it’s own set of rules. You may be able to have him in the cabin with you, but I’d suggest, if this is going to be a long flight, he’s probably going to be better in the specially made hold. Don’t sorry, provided he’s not very young (I’d not fly a puppy of much under 5 months personally) he should be fine. Talk to the airline involved.

Airlines will accept most breeds, although some can be difficult with a short-nosed dog like the Bulldog, or Pug.

How much should Bolognese and Shih Tzu puppies be with and without papers?

Sunday, June 17th, 2012

I’m looking into buying a small lap dog that’s good in apartments and I have narrowed my options down to Bolognese and Shih tzu, but I just need to know about how much they each cost with and without papers. Also, I know that without the papers its not certain that they are full breed, but I may need to take that risk if the price is right! thanks!

Your first concern should be finding a great breeder, NOT the price of the dog.

If the price is your only concern, there are plenty of great dogs in shelters and on Petfinder.
