My friend has his brother from the same litter and he has a beautiful coat of hair. He is a full bred Shih Tzu, I know the breeder and have seen both parents. My little boy's hair has not grown, at all. Whats going on here?
We had a shih tzu and her hair grew fast, but several out of the same liter (went to people I knew) didn't grow nearly as fast. Now we have pekingese and several pekes have really long hair that grew in the first year, and some of them took much longer and is still growing now. I think it's just different from dog to dog. But it wouldn't hurt to discuss it with the breeder or vet just to see what they say. I think it will grow in, but it's just going very slow. It happens. GL.
