The Shih Tzu Poodle
is a hybrid dog. This is the result of crossbreeding a Poodle
and Shih Tzu which is classified as F1. Because this is a hybrid
dog, the appearance and color can differ. Both breeds are
amusing and friendly though they have distinctive
characteristics. Given the variety of these traits, it is
difficult to tell which features will dominate.
The Shih Tzu Poodle
is normally amiable, exuberant and is easily housebroken. It
also reacts well to training, intelligent and enjoys being with
people. The appearance and disposition can change from F1 if it
is breed with F2 and F3.
Adult Size As with numerous
crossbreeds, size and weight of the Shih Tzu poodle
will differ. The adult size for two years older of the male or
female is approximately 9 to 13 inches at the withers which are
evaluated at the highest level of the dog’s shoulder. The weight can
vary from 6 to 12 pounds.
Health Conditions
Most of the hybrid varieties of dogs
have some health problems linked with that particular crossbreed. As
with all crossbreeds, a complete understanding of the possible
health problems is hard.
As with any crossbreed varieties, the pup
stage that is 0 to 12 months
is the ideal time for injections, booster dose and a vet check up.
As an adult, the breed dog should have yearly vet medical checkup
that should also include a dental
test and cleaning. Dental hygiene should be a scheduled part of
training the dog. Never give the breed dog any human foods.
Grooming The surface coat of Shih Tzu poodle
will be normally small and curled with less or no exuviating. Steady
brushing is necessary because the Shih Tzu poodle
coat is tends to matting and entangling. Normal brushing will assist
in maintaining a clear and healthy coat. The method of grooming
offers a chance to test the dog for any
skin problems and insect
pestilences like fleas and ticks. Grooming also helps to fortify the
emotional attachment between an individual and the dog.
Dental health is
necessary and the teeth should be cleaned not less than two times a
week with toothpaste and brush specially prepared for dogs. Brushing
get rids of the aggregation of plaque and tartar which can make
tooth decay and periodontal illness. Canine dental hygiene can cause
pain, teeth loss, breath problem and other health problems.
The claws should be cut down on a
regular basis and the paws tested for signs of wounds.
Shih Tzu Poodle
Life Span With good nourishment,
medical aid and superior living conditions, a Shih Tzu poodle
should be able to live a good and long life, likely for about 15
years. Given the crossbreed quality of these dogs, an exact
prediction of life cannot be done.
The Benefits of Having a
Shih Tzu Poodle
Dog
Allergic reaction is low or missing because of their
hypoallergenic lineaments. There is very less loss of hair when
considered to other dogs. However, it is significant to
understand that no dog is fully hypoallergenic. Highly sensitive
individuals may still feel little discomfort with the breed dog.
The Shih Tzu poodle
has hybrid energy which means very less genetic troubles due to
hybridization. This is why it is always good to buy a puppy
which had a Shih Tzu mother and a Poodle father, or the other
way around, as contradicted to buying a puppy which had two
Shih Tzu poodle
parents. Many controversies exist over this problem and whether
or not there exist such a thing called hybrid dynamism in the
first place.
There is some 'weeping eyes', which needs constant care, or
snorting, due to their small snouts, which is normal in the Shih
Tzu.
Shih Tzu Poodle
Personality
This hybrid dog has the
good temperament traits of both the Shih Tzu and the Poodle.
Both dogs are very adoring and firm which exist in Shih Tzu Poodle
also.
These breeds are good small watch dogs. They remain alert and
keenly watch what is going on close to them. They alarm their
owners whenever something goes incorrect by barking.
Instructing the calm command is always assistive with any dog,
particularly little dogs because they incline to bark a little
more than big dogs. Although this does not holds true always.
